Our Vision

We believe that enquiry based learning is important and want to give children the opportunity to learn through investigation. By giving them the chance to explore artefacts, they can begin to understand methods of historical enquiry.

We strive to give each child maximum learning during our visit but also to deliver our sessions with the emphasis being on fun. By incorporating artefacts, role-play, costume and questioning in our workshops, we can ensure that every child has a truly interactive experience.

Meet the DEL behind Delve Into History

Delyth Bannister set up Delve Into History in 2011. She grew up surrounded by history books as her mother was fascinated with the Tudor and Stuart periods, her father World War Two. At the age of thirteen, Delyth was excited when she saved enough tokens from the back of cereal packets, to claim her free kings and queens poster. She too had caught the history bug!

Delyth began her working life as a primary school teacher. She enjoyed her time in the classroom, but her passion in life had always been history. She decided to combine her enthusiasm for teaching with her love of history and became a learning facilitator at numerous museums across North West England.

When a teaching colleague needed someone to do a talk about Tudors, Delyth jumped at the chance. After developing a specially tailored outreach workshop for the classroom, she knew this was where her future lay. The rest, as they say, is history!
